Wanted - J94 or USA Tank Engine!

Post by J94Fan »

Hello

I would love to see a new J94 model, as it's a major part of the preserved steam world :)

I heard that someone was doing a USA 0-6-0 Tank Engine, as seen on the Bluebell and KWVR etc.... any news? :)

Before you ask, "Make it yourself", I have a poor internet connection, so I can't download Gmax (I tried, and the connection died with 17 secs of file remaining :() Both of these engines (esp J94) are relatively easy to design :)

Bye

I have to build one for the KESR No25 Northiam, I just need some plans - can anyone scan me 4mm plans at 300 or 360dpi ?
Unfortunately it's not at the top of my list, but I could move it up a bit if I had the plans.

Well, i DO have GMAX, but i can't get it to work, it displays four white screens instead of a grid and freezes whenever i try to draw a shape, and i can't see the shape anyway! J94fan, if you help me to get GMAX working, then i will be quite happ to turn my hand to an 'Austerity', they are fairly simple shapes, so it'd be good to cut my teeth on so to speak, i can't promise excellent work, but i'll certainly have a look, IF you help me get GMAX working, there's a similar post in the GMAX forum...

The USA is on my "to do" list, but won't be for a while yet.

J94..................

Post by bravedan »

I have J94 Austerity plans. :)

As a long term plan of mine is to represent the Cromford and High Peak, the J94 was next on the list to be sorted after the North London Tank.

I even have a theory as to how to make the rope inclines work............

However, Brian and I had not done anything about building a J94 as Jonathan Olds, the original J94 builder for MSTS, has been working his way back to health after an accident, and I'd hoped he would be fit enough for an improved "Mark 2" before too much longer.

I have been in intermittant contact with Jon, so if OK with all, if Jon does not see and respond to this thread, I will contact him and discuss.

I suggest we give Jon the option of updating his loco, as he was the first to do it...................please............

Is this OK??

allrighty
there IS a J94 on tr**n-s*m.com, but it could use a bit of touching up
link is: http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/kdl/main/9 ... p?njT4s01h

or if that doesnt work, search on tr**n-s*m.com for J94, operating company LMS (even though it should be LNER)

Michael - that's the original Jonathan Olds one mentioned earlier in the thread.

Looks like after months of asking, J94fan may get his wish 4 times over :)

Littleton No 7 was an austerity, No 5 was similar to No 4 so I could probably add that version too, almost a set!

Just need Littleton Colliery as a route (which is almost a branch line in itself)

That is fine with me, if he wants to improve his loco he can do it, It will probably be easier for him to improve his then me to build a new 1. If he does not want to re-do it then send the plans over and I will have a stab at it (if not I'll do a J72).

Fairly sure I have colour Colliery Austerity pics, too.

Problem is there were so many variations of bunker shape, step and handrail position, difficult to find a happy medium..............

Incidentally Jon's loco, done very early on after the MSTS launch, and so showing it's age now, is in BR livery as 68006, which was a LMR loco on the Cromford and High Peak, formerly LMS, and before that LNWR...............
