And today being the Friday of the week that they said it'd be out (seeing as games are usually released on a friday in the UK), and it seems to be nowhere. Amazon.co.uk still don't have it as a product either - never a good sign, really.

Yup - I've had mine since December 2001 - though it doesn't run on my 3DFX (aaaargh! :x )

I bought Trainz in a computer store in Copenhagen, Denmark, yesterday. But I was greatly disappointed by the graphics of Trainz. The graphics, both the textures and the game engine, suck.

In the pictures below both MSTS and Trainz are running with everything fully on in the graphics settings (Athlon XP1900+, loads of PC2700 DDR RAM, GeForce3 Ti200 with 128 MB memory and so on). The pictures have been saved as jpg which means a degradation of the picture quality, especially the MSTS shot, compared to the original screen.

MSTS was running at 1280x1024x32 (the route is the Swedish JBJ route) and Trainz at 1024x768x32 (since Trainz doesn't run at 1280x1024 without manual tweaking of the config files).

I could add that MSTS runs smoothly at 1280x1024x32 on my computer while Trainz is very jerky at that resolution. Which means that the game engine and graphics engine used by Trainz needs more power than the one used by MSTS even though the graphics in MSTS are greatly superior to those in Trainz.
