... So if the person who went to the trouble of making and uploading those sounds that are obviously so bad, hadn't wasted their time, until these 'super new sounds' were available, everyone would have been happy with a Sulzer engine sounding like a Dash 9 or GP 38 then.....
No wonder people are getting fed up with putting their work up on the site...

OK, the answer is simple, make some of your own.
My soundsets were made when the Sim first came out and are perhaps a bit dated now.
You make a better set, and I will help you with them where I can.
I have learn't alot since I made the Class 47 Sound Set which was my first effort, of course I could just remove them all from the File Library then you would be left with the default sounds might sound better.
Making Sound Sets is not easy as what you get in the Final Version is governed by the Sim after lots of cutting and pasting.
Ask Chris Baily and J Ashton they will tell you the same.

youre not wrong gary!
There is nothing wrong with any of the sound sets available on UKTS the more the better, each person who has compiled a sound set is a star and its there interpritation of how that loco should sound. If you have the HD space available you can have different locos of the class sounding different, not every loco sounds the same in real life. 47522 asked me to help/complie these class 47 sounds, they sound in my opinion good on increasing power, but when you decrease they sound weird, the full power sound isnt the best, but ive done the best with the recordings available to me, these sounds really capture the reving up sound that a 47 has, and are really for the thrash merchants among us!

also at the end of the day, the sound sets are only as good as the recordings they came from, and with a complete lack of recordings readily available on the net of the loco being recorded from the train or back cab we do the best with what we have, andy slaters recordings are good, but are from the ground of trains passing, useless for creating sound sets in msts, ive spoken to andy about this and he has agreed to do some on train recordings of locos at the ELR diesel gala in june, for the purpose of creating sound sets in MSTS....

Thanks Chris
The way you explained that should now make it clear to everyone that compiling Sound Sets for MSTS is no picnic.
Perhaps things will change in MSTS2, when such things as helper Loco's only having idle sounds, and better transition of sound through the power range will be fixed.
Yes Andy's source sounds have been very helpful, without these we would be very limited to what we have available now and I thank him for allowing me to use them in my projects.
There's plenty of room on the stage for people to have ago at making some sound sets, so feel free to have a bash as Chris has said no two Loco's sound the same.

Sorry Gary.
I have used your sound for various locos since they first appeared on this site. When I first discovered them and loaded them up they were the best thing since sliced bread. I did, and still do, whack the volume up when using the 47s and when you hit the power band after 80 percent ish, that road is very satisfying.
Yes, you are right, they have been usurped by newer sounds, and Chris' Class 24/5 and the 26/7 sounds are excellent.
It was careless of me to be so flippant about someone elses hard work and I unreservedly apologise. I guess my last impression of driving at 45 mph on double yellows with the lower power sound repeating endlessly had left a lasting impression.
It is easy to be critical when you are an "armchair" member. That does not mean its right.
Sorry.
Keep up the good work.
