Fell locomotive
Just to let everyone know I have the Fell experimental Loco on the drawing board so to speak.
I know it's an ugly looking brute of a loco but at the time it's was the only scanned drawings I had.
Construction is about 90% finished, and texturing is about 50%.
I am hopeful for a finish date in mid April, as I only go on the computer 2 to 3 hours a week and it has taken me a couple of months to get this far.
Regards Keith

Yes I have been wondering how to simulate the driving aspect as well, I assume it will need a heavily modified .eng file to try and replicate bringing it the engines in sequence plus some complex sound files as well.
I don't even want to think what the cab layout was like!
For the moment my main priority is getting the basic working model to a position where it can be downloaded, after that I could well be looking for help with the various .eng sound and cab files.

Will do the usual searching!
How about this for a start?

Plenty of info here, including output + cab controls (no pics)

And a bit more!

Thanks for the links, although I use the last two sites quite a lot and have them bookmarked both at home and at work. Incidentaly it was the Paxman site that got me interested in the Fell in the first place.
I have not seen the Ricardo site before and it's quite interesting, the photo at Marylebone is quite a common one though. I hadn't realised Ricardo was also involved with Citroen and Peugeot diesel engines for cars as early as the 1930s, for some reason I always thought diesels wern't used in cars untill the late 1970s
Thanks for the info

Got a bit more done over the weekend, the model is still about 90% completed with about 80% if the texturing, so not to bad for about 5 hours work. I am quite pleased with it.
I will try and send a screen shot tonight, so that you can see how it is coming along.
By the way how do I attach a screen shot ??????

I would have thought that the sounds for this locomotive are ideally suited to MSTS even single engined locos sound like they have many engines starting in sequence due to the awful way that the sounds seem to work (or not) Anyway looking really good its nice to see some of the more unusual prototypes being modelled.
Cheers

Because either people don't have ellocution lessons or don't know instinctively how to speak 'properly'. There's an 'n' in "goverNment", "often" has a silent t, "schedule" doesn't have a hard 'k' sound in it (but school does), ect, ectZackybong1 wrote:By the way etc. is an abrieviation of et cetera. Why do people write ect. and say "ec settra"? Why would you use a word you don't know? Its like Del Boys French-isms.
Any way thats all for now. Bonjour Bonjour.

Not touched the model for over a week. We had the wifes relatives over from Dublin for a long weekend.
I plan to do both the original lined out black version, and the later green one with the centre part of the coupling removed.
The model is very unstable at the moment though as I can convert it from TSM to MSTS ok and run it ok in MSTS, then I can try to run it again in MSTS some time later and it will fail, sometimes with the unable to load ????? into world and some times with the dreaded fatal error "MSTS will now close".
I think some where along the way the model has become far to complex and I have missed the balance between polygon count and texturing.
So it will be a few more weeks yet, as enthusiasm is a bit low, and I have just got Tim Courts excellent Mid-East. which I want to have a good look at.
I might even start and rebuild a previous downloaded model the "class 29" as an in between project.
