Some coaching stock

Post by anamorph »

Would anyone consider the following:
(just so we can use up more disk space!)

Mk 1 or 2 "barrier coaches" BR/ or GNER Livery
Mk 2 Test Train stock - i e "Doncaster Test Train"

Some super grimy BR stock? (Cl37/40/47/08 PMV NPV vans etc?)

These could populate the sidings on more modern routes

Finally, just to be really cheeky - how about some car transporters circa
1980's?

Or does anybody have plans in the pipeline? :D

Well, I'll see what I can do re pics:

Essentially barrier coaches are a basic mk2d with the windows welded
over, and in whatever livery !

Test train stock is identical, usually in a grimy off-white colour.
Usually 1 coach bears "area" (ie Doncaster Test Train) they are
usually in a rake of 5-7 coaches. Commonly used for "shaking down"
re-fitted locos for example the class 91's or training drivers on 47's for
T'bird duties.

Example of a barrier coach at Craigentinny: Mk2d, with windows welded,
Painted in an all over GNER blue, with red stripe but no "Route of F.S."
Logo. Bearing the legend in white "IC125 Barrier Coach" halfway between banding and coach bottom.
There are numerous Mk 1's with welded windows - purpose debatable!

I don't have any pics of these coaches - but the dimensions are obviously
"per coach" - if you got hold of a pic of a test train then all these coaches are basically the same.

An excellent site I have found: http://www.samsonrail.com (Steve Jones' Rail pics page) Well worth a look - some VERY grimy BR stock!

I'll have a look at some mags and scan some pics in: obviously I don't
want to "post" them on the forum and infringe the copyright:

It might take a day or two cos my scanner does a minimum 500k scan!
I think I'll have to take a digi pic to get the file down to a reasonable size.

I'm sure the Porterbrook coach would be VERY welcome!

Lots of stuff needed to a:populate the sidings
and b: It gives an excuse to run more trains!!

It would be best to crack on with a Doncaster Test train Ready for when Tim Court Extend's Mideast that far. :)

I have seen the Doncaster Test Train a couple of Time's, When I was at doncaster Waiting for a IC225 to York. was heading for the North Yorkshire Moor's Railway, Pickering. (Me). Then saw it on way home Too. :)

The livery is Grey gradiented from top to bottom light-dark with a orangy stripe about 3/4 of way from bottom, with DTT on side in Large letter's. (Arial font). Then in small writing over the top of the Orange line, in small letter's, Doncaster Test Train.

Not seen it for a couple of year's +.
