Ultimate Trainz in the UK...

Post by NeutronIC »

The UK publishers are holding off releasing it, no date has been given at this time for a shelf release - given that they only just put the original Trainz on the shelf I'm not overly surprised - though it is a disappointment that once again the UK is going to have to wait while Australia and North America can already get it.

As some of you know, we have been speaking direct with Auran to try and find some way to get it in to the UK as soon as possible and I am happy to say that we now have a positive conclusion!

We hope to be selling Ultimate Trainz at a cost of £31 - this will includes one month premium subscription to the site plus postage and packing, so it's an all inclusive price.

We have to find out how Customs is going to affect that price as yet but my aim will be to be in that kind of area if at all possible.

Without placing a formal order (since we haven't yet finalised the price) can everyone who would be interested in purchasing a copy please let me know so that I can find out how many copies I need to get on order.

We are able to distribute to all of Europe as well (obviously Australian and North American readers can purchase it locally) so please let me know ASAP if you would want one so that I can let Auran know roughly how many to send.

My email is matt@uktrainsim.com, use a subject of 'Yes! I want Ultimate Trainz!' :)

Just to repeat: This is NOT an order for Trainz so do NOT include any payment information at this time, I just want to find out what kind of volume to order.

Please spread the message far and wide ! :)

Thanks!
Matt.

sorry for my ignorance but would Ultimate Trainz be everything? as in all the previous version or will I have to get them seperate?

Not knowing much about Trainz at the moment (only just got a demo to try out) I'm becoming interested in it. :)

Auran have made no menttion about upgrade pricing to me yet, but i'll ask and see what they say. The current arrangement has us paying a standard wholesale price for each copy and then we just add on postage, packing etc to that to get the final price - so I am not sure how it would work.

I'll try and find out if there is anything that can be done though, but my bts would be that the Auran discount is available only through Auran.

I think it should be pointed out that Auran's Web page regarding the upgrade from V1.1 reads:
Note 1: To upgrade Trainz UK retail edition to the latest version, apply Service Pack 3 followed by the Trainz Content Update Pack. You can download these from this page or order the CD from our Shop for the cost of approx. GBP 3.50 P&H
Ref: Auran Web site 25 Dec 2002

By following Auran's advice they are leading you to believe you will have the latest version by getting this, when of course - you don't.

I have e-mailed Auran about this discrepancy, and will be intersted to see their reply.

Misleading, dishonest or what?? We'll see.

It is up to Auran to insist that Mindscape deal with the upgrade/distribution for UK users. One would think that Auran would remove Mindscape from their approved distributors if they won't help. I presume Mindscape get paid for dealing with distribution, and not doing it for charity, in which case if they are, sorry Mindscape. I wouldn't approve them if it was me, and shall never purchase a product distributed by Mindscape again. They are on my black list. UK users shouldn't be expected to buy the same product three times in a month to have a current version. Plainly ridiculus.

TinTin, I don't think Matt's got them yet, so keep your eye on Matt's (NeutronicIC) comments on the home page and the CD Ordering page.
