Anyone tried this? Its a first world war flight sim and.... its not too good. For a full price product you a somewhat under par graphics, slow refresh rates, and limited gameplay. Its a shame because we do need a decent sim of this nature. First Eagles comes across as an arcade game struggling to appeal to the hard core simmers.

Hadn't heard of it until you posted this thread.
Had a quick wander over to SimHQ and they seem to agree with you. Some of the screenshots with the aircraft on the ground look ok, but those taken with the aircraft at any sort of altitude look absolutely rubbish.
Don't think I've seen a good WW1 sim since Red Baron 3D.
Wouldn't you just love Mr. Maddox to turn his attention to the genre...

The sound quality is very poor indeed. One thing in its favour is the mission generator which does inject randomness. You never quite get the same mission twice.
As for Red Baron, I would love someone to put that out again with a decent renderer. That game was superior even with the slightly suspect graphics. It had a much better feel to it. You could take off in your favourite steed and almost believe you were flitting through the clouds over the trenches. To some extent that was attention to detail, but also because the programmers were able to convey a sense of reality about it. Thats where First Eagles fails completely. It really doesn't feel like you're four thousand feet above the Somme.
