I was messing about in the Maule in the high Himalayas (curiosity) in slew mode and I zeroed right into the cockpit in error, and the pilot's eyes BLINKED, it was soooo freeeeeeeeeeeky, thought I'd imagined it, but he blinked again, etc.

WOW

:-?

PS As far as I'm aware this hasn't been reported until now.

He looks like one of those workers milling around in the control station of an evil villains lair. You know the ones? The ones who flick switches on and off at random in a vain attempt to stop their boss from electrifying their seat or dropping them into a tank of sharks. So thats the latest plot is it? Squadrons of piper cubs dropping microsoft adverts.... Oops... Sorry guys, didn't mean to give you away....

As you may know the Piper Cub comes in a couple of other paint schemes, however, in the VC view the window reflections still shows the yellow scheme paint job.

The aircraft I'm most familiar with in the sim are the Cub, Maule, Beaver and the trike, all are beautifully modelled, inside and outside.

Cheers Bazza

PS Does anyone bother with the real world weather. You should try landing at Wellington (NZ) in a howling southerly. I must put up some video links from reality. I've been there, suffered that, as Wellington is notorious for high winds, and that's just from parliament...... :P

Yes - I use ActiveSky - and the weather that generates is pretty much spot on. I landed my Beaver at Teal Bay (Falkland Is) the other night, - during approach and landing the wind changed direction 360 degrees.

Yep, Activesky is great.

I managed to take off backward in a C172 last night - though I don't think Cessna's are normally rated for 80kt headwinds...

Maybe, but at least in FSX no one is shooting at you. The IL series is a good one if you're into warbird sims. Personally, of the aircraft addons (commercial) I'd look at Just Flight's Lancaster. I've only seen a static version of the Lanc', many years ago, at MOTAT, in Auckland, NZ. At the time it was outside, but I believe it's been moved undercover and been refurbished. MOTAT has a TEAL Solent* flyingboat, that's been beautifully restored as a static display.

Plus commercialised Sunderland.

Its become a good visit. Better than the first time I went and much more under restoration in the hangars. Shame the other half of the museum is looking a bit shabby. Recommended. (you can send the Mrs and the kids to the zoo next door. Heaven...)

I've only been to the Auckland zoo once*, and my favourite everlasting image was of a couple of very bright yellow eyes looking out from the murky shadows at the back of the panther cage. They seemed to say, "Step inside a moment, I'm feeling peckish."

*One trip to Auckland, from the Mainland, is sufficient for one lifetime. :P

When I was but a young lad, our family visited some safari park or other whose identity I can't remember at all. It was one of those stately homes. Behind the main house was a stable roped off with a placard saying 'Keep Out'. Looking through the open upper door I see a female black panther and her newly born cubs. I look at the panther - the panther looks at me. Those eyes of hers said "Thats ok little human, I don't mind you looking - but you come in here - You're Kitticat!"

One thing about auckland zoo I remember was the chimp enclosure, which has a substantial climbing frame made from logs. Right at the top was an old male, who saw me looking at him. He stood up, grinned, and wee'd there and then. What a charmer!

Down here we'd call that "taking THE piss", mind you, it's usually aimed at Australians, they're a static target.
