"Flight sim x" 30 minutes off it goes!!! .

Post by neilbooth »

Thats it ..after just 30 minutes i have removed it from my computer and gone back to Flight sim 2004..., After lowering all the detail/sound effects and all other settings to the bare minimum....i end up with a frame rate of 1 fps !! and when im in the cockpit it takes forever to look in another direction ...15/ 30 seconds ..the picture just freezes....im better off with 2004 where i can get a very good quality picture with a decent/"vastly improved framerate. You have to have top of the range computer/hardware in order to run this..i mean whats the point in lowering all the graphics / detail settings and end up with graphics "WORSE" than the 2004 simulator !! :-? in order to run it..my computer....512mb..120 gb......3.0 ghz....intel pentium4 processor ....ati radeon 9550 256mb graphics card. I would have to spend at least £300 to buy a graphics card thats capable for this.

I have heard FSX is quite hungry for resources but to be fair 512 RAM does seem a little low for this kind of software. Im just about to install FSX this morning with 1GB so well see how that goes (or doesnt)

I remember reading once that Microsoft wanted the game to appeal to a wide audience.

Well running it on such a high machine isn't excatly doing that.

I require a massive upgrade for my computer to run it, and my computer is high anyway.

Have a look at the front page of http://www.flightsim.com and go down to the FSX reviews... There's one particularly about the scenery and the reviewer had exactly that same trouble until he doscovered how to fix it. I can't remember 'cos I ain't getting FSX until it's been out a while, but it's got to be worth a punt.

I've not yet installed it but fell for the 'it's out today' as always.

Read the review and won't install it until my computer specs are good enough.

The FSX review Gary spoke of admits reccommended specs are 'very optomistic'.

Something should be done about this as MSTS add-on publishers specs are ridiculous and simply wanting to sell as many copies of whatever as possible.

Cheers

John
