Has anybody heard the roumer...

Has anybody heard the roumer that the diameter of the engine of the new Airbus A380-800 is big enough to fit a Boeing 757-200/300 through it? Well, after a recent experiment after purchasing a 1:200 scale Airbus A380-800 and a 1:200 scale Boeing 757-200 I found it to be true. The diameter of the engine is larger than the fuselage. did anybody else know this or is everybody else in the dark?

I was vaguely aware; though I'd hardly say it was rumour.

The 777 engine is wider than a 737 fuselage as well.

The width is due to the fan - an enclosed propellor to all intents and purposes. The actual jet is much smaller.

I couldn't imagine that.
