PSS super spring 50% off sale!!!

Post by Fodda »

Yes indeed, the website says 'for a few days only' so get in there quick if you fancy anything!

I'd heartily recommend the Concorde package, it's a cracking model, and the cockpit and VC just have to be seen to be believed. In fact it's worth it just to see how good a set of panels really can be!!! And every knob and button is clickable, and to be honest, you need a few hours spare if you do the cold and dark starts that I love!

Of course, there's the Vulcan there as well, and I'm getting one of those in this sale... Plus a bunch of other stuff... Dash-8, Airbus, etc etc...

You want what? Oh the address...

Now go and get that Concorde, and then you can use my G-AXDN repaint! ;) ;)

I wasn't interested in the PSS Concorde - being the owner of the Koch Media/SSTsim package - but for a tenner I might sample what the PSS has to offer.

I own both download copies and the Just Flight boxed edition of the Vulcan. Does that mean I can legally give away the download version? Wouldn't be the download details mind as that'd give you access to all my PSS purchases but could I zip it and send it without Phoenix rising from the flames? I have no need to download the Vulcan again.

I'd recommend the PSS Concorde to anyone. I haven't seen the Koch Media/SSTsim, but I'm not sure anything can beat the PSS version! Definitely my favourite payware aircraft, including PMDG 737-6/7/8/900.

Without turning this into a PSS vs. SSTsim flamewar (there's enough of those to last a life-time) the hardcore simmers took issue with the exterior model of the PSS and the systems or procedures that are modelled, minor things liek engine debowing etc.

The PSS panel certainly looks a bit better than the SSTsim though.

I am coming up to 500 BAV hours...

Doubt I can dedicate the time and effort for the Concorde though - Modern birds are easy to set up!

How's it compare to the MS one in FS2000?

Haven't got a clue as I never ran 2000.

There are a few small quibbles with the PSS Concorde though. I managed to work around them all, but it seems that on some (not all as the PSS forums clearly show) machines these things appear.

1... It doesn't seem to like Force Feedback joysticks. I disabled the FF for control surfaces and that fixed it.

2... Some people experience undercarriage bounce when chaging views... Again this disappeared when I turned off the FF.

3... The automatic Flight Officer (you can turn him off and do all the FO stuff yourself if you like) sometimes trims the tanks slightly out of whack giving you CoG warnings during the flight. Fixed by turning off the Inlet Valves to tank 9 once it's completely empty.

I've experienced and worked around all these. My mate bought the same 'plane around the same time and hasn't seen any of these problems. Hardware stuff by the looks of it.

Anyway, I don't know how good it is compared to the Koch version either, but for £10, it's well worth it.

Oh yeah, and don't forget the manual... It's a free download whether you get the 'plane or not, so you can get a good idea of what's in the package.

And finally, I reckon the model is gorgeous. No quibble from me...

And let me whet your whistles, and show off a bit again!

No it looks good to me too. My only slight disappointment was the textures of those provided by PSS. Looked bit cartoonish compared with the SSTsim but I think someone had painted up some photo-realistic textures.
I really did mean the diehards when I mentioned any short-comings in the model, the type that threaten mass suicide pacts if even so much as a rivet or VHF aerial is out of place.
