Airliner Pilot

Post by bigvern »

I've just seen details of this add on for MSFS on the Just Flight site, ordered it actually (from Play). Seems quite interesting, in effect adds a career mode to the game starting off as a second officer on an ATR then working up to the big stuff. Okay my recent luck with MSFS add ons hasn't been that good but this is slightly different. Guess it's a virtual airline without actually having to mess about going online etc!

Now we just need a similar utility for MSTS.

Its certainly taken sometime for such a package to be developed (at least I've never encountered one before).

Being with BAV I'll not be buying it but I'd be interested to hear what you think of it. Are the aircraft which you can fly tied to the software? For example on the JF site there seems to be the PSS Dash 8, whereas the other aircraft look like those nauseating default 737s, 747s and 777s.

The splurge refers to an ATR (which presumably comes with the pack) and yes indeed the icky default aircraft. However for me the potential gameplay from a proper career structure outweighs that a bit and it may be later on there will be the ability to add extra aircraft to the roster.

I'm considering buying it, although I must say flying default aircraft puts me off a bit. And you fly the 737 and 777, the two worst default aircraft for cockpit views (why couldn't MS have rebuilt these aircraft for FS2004, rather than the horrible FS2000 and earlier panel versions, so they would be good, like the new FS2004 aircraft?). The default 747 is also used I think, which is a bit better.

I'm not that bothered really, especially when I'm playing on Concorde Pro, which is the best add-on I've ever bought (recommend).

According to information on the Just Flight forums, they are working to include third party aircraft as being useable in career mode. If they can pull it off, will be an excellent add on. Now all we need is a similar expansion for MSTS!

If they can include third-party aircraft, then it would be ten times better.

A Flightsim UK anexe to Trainsim UK. Interesting, I'll have to think about that. I wouldn't consider myself technically qualified enough to review actual aircraft add-ons but something like this is up my street.

LOL... Sorry Vern, I didn't mean it to be a lot of extra work, I just thought as you have it, maybe a paragraph on what it does and how well or badly it does it would do. No more than a few sentences that's all.

Cheers

There's a demo available now from the Just Flight website.

It also appears (from the JF forum) that the release date has been pushed forward to, er, now! There's a refreshing change from a software house. Unfortunately the on-line retailers haven't caught up as yet but presumably will do so next week. Silent Hunter 3 and a career mode for MSFS will keep me occupied for quite a little while I imagine...

Unfortunately Flying Club has gone back though. :( Oh well, I'd rather they did that than release an unfinished version to meet the release date.
