And where is that gorgeous freeware Seafire available from please? Is it FS 2004 compliant?

Indeed it is. http://www.aeroplaneheaven.com. I think you still have to register with them but it is free.
If you still have CFS2 and/or FS2002 installed there is a nice Fairey Firefly too.

Thank you. I've already registered with them to get that lovely Schmittfire. Guess I'm back there in a min...

Oh, I thought it was almost instant. :-?
Does the confirmation email involve some level of activation e.g. "click here to activate your account" :-?

I don't remember it taking longer than five minutes between registration and getting the Schmittfire...

It's a fantastic download though (the Seafire) and well worth getting. I was zooming about at wavetop and treetop height for ages in it last night. Excellent feel, and the liveries look good too.

Finally got too close to the sea and scuffed it! Engine stopped dead and I bounced up into the air like a skimmed stone. But I did manage to belly land it in the sea once I'd lost the airspeed. An excellent model.

Yes they're quite stunning, and that seems to be the principle gripe over on the Just Flight forums with the Spitfire package. The same people (Aeroplane Heaven) are behind that and their freeware textures are in a different league to the fairly bland ones that have been released on a payware package.

There's also the real pedants who've had a cardiac because an aerial is 2mm out from the actual Mk.IXC blueprints etc.

Do these pendents just hang around. I imagine tight ones would be a pain in the neck.

:D :D :D

Sorry, couldn't resist that one. I think you meant pedants.

I must admit though that your comparison shots certainly make the Seafire look a whole bunch better than the payware Spitfire.

Any decent freeware Spitfire packages for 2004 available out there does anyone know?

ROFL!!! Blood hell! I was up till nearly 4 playing Counter-Strike. That's my only excuse. I've made a couple of mistakes on forums today though. I can't write one I've been pulled up for without a ban.

Nice one Martin. Excellent plane innit!

Sorry Speedbird, I wouldn't have picked up on it but it made me laugh.
