The Great Garratt Gathering (MOSI - 15/08/09)

On the weekend of Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August, the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry hosted the Great Garratt Gathering, an event bringing together many things associated with Garratt, Beyer Peacock and other things.
The guestlist consisted of:
1) The Welsh Highland Railway's K1 0-4-0+0-4-0, whose appearance in Manchester was timed to coincide with it's 100th Birthday
2) The Bressingham Steam Museum's 0-4-0+0-4-0 William Francis
3) The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway's Lancashire and Yorkshire 0-6-0 'Ironclad' 957
4) The Foxfield Railway's Beyer Peacock 0-4-0 saddletank number 1 (shunter at the Beyer Peacock Works at Gorton)
5) The East Lancashire Railway's Hymek diesel D7076
6) The National Tramway Museum's (Crich) Steam Tram Engine number. 47 (alias Beyer Peacock Works Shunter number 2)
The usual MOSI exhibits included:
1) The replica Liverpool and Manchester 0-2-2 Planet
2) GL Class Beyer-Garratt 4-8-2+2-8-4 number 2352
3) The Vulcan Foundry's 4-4-0 number 30644
4) Metropolitain/Vickers EM2 (Class 77) 27001 Ariadne
Plus, there were many examples of Garratts ranging in all shapes and sizes. Train rides, a goods train, model railways and a variety of other attractions made for a great event.
