I saw her running through Leeds, certainly looks a bit strange without the smokebox numberplate, and I don't think I'll get used to that chimney.
I might post the photos when I can get my camera back from work!

Nice pictures.
Just out of interest:-
1)Is it authentic to not have a smoke box number plate?
2)Will she be getting a nameplate?
Thanks.

I think all the A1s always carried a smokebox door plate, being introduced under BR, though if they'd been introduced much earlier could have had it painted on the buffer beam. She'll be getting her number plate back, and nameplates on before Saturday's run.

The A1's were introduced under L.N.E.R. not B.R.
The A1's, A2's & A3's all carried their No. on the buffer beam, they did not have a smokebox plate until much later on after B.R. came into being.
If you can get hold of a 1948 abc (mines the reprint) you can check out the photo's on pages 36 & 37 of part 4.

Hi
Nice pics.
I went to Leeds as was timed to stop for 15 mins.
I took a couple of pics as it came into Leeds (approx 7 mins early) then jogged to other end of platform to take more pics only to notice that it went straight thru. Quite a few unhappy people. Why be timed to stop but not.
I will see it at York this saturday
Dave

I'm not gonna comment on the quality of timing or signaling, but it was always likely to arrive at Leeds early, though considering events on the day I expected her to be held in the station, in the event she was held at Neville Hill.
Crimpsall, are you thinking of the correct A1s? All the info I have is that the Peppercorn ones were delivered after nationalisation, unlike the Thompson and, of course, Gresley ones, suggesting they would have had smokebox door plates. If you've a picture of one with the number on the buffer beam I'd love to see it!

Was thinking of the "Original" Gresley A1's
