A Day In Fort William Yard

Post by JonathonAG »

Firstly, thanks to Ian, Stuart and Rob for looking after me on Sunday, was a very enjoyable day and look forward to seeing yous again!

Secondly. What am I on about??? Well, Sunday, GWR Hall No. 5972 was 'supposed" to be filming between Fort William and Mallaig. However, because the shots they had taken the previous day down at Rannoch wasn't good enough due to rain, they headed back down there on Sunday. Now, this was a problem, as that was the purpose of me travelling up to Fort William. But fear not, the Riley crew offerred to look after me while my grandparents went to the Caledonian Canal, so instead Sunday turned out a lot better than if I had seen the Hall. I was thus able to take photos around the yard of No. 45407 and No. 62005, watching preperations as the Black 5 was given life as a small fire was lit, preparing for the next day's Jacobite run. Even got to help clean the tender ( yes, not an adequate job I know when I did it guys, I blame lack of polish on broom and rag....thus Rob going over it after I had finished! ). Was a great day all in all, and I felt right at home hanging with them.

Unfortunately sun wasn't really in the right place the few hours I was up there, so hope to get more next time I visit.

Thanks

Jonathon
