Inspired by Ronik24 (A few shots of the Mid Hants)

Post by Neptune50006 »

Having seen the stunning set of photo's taken by Ronik, I've been inspired to have a go myself. Excuse me Ronik for copying your border, but it makes such a difference to the pictures.

A few photo's taken yesterday afternoon on the Mid Hants.

Just so we know where we are.

A busy looking station.

"OK, where's me train got to?"

"Canadian Pacific" backs onto her train.

Big isn't it!

Some of "Can' Pac's" plumbing

Getting arty with the colour now :D

Lots of signs to read

"Can' Pac'" leaving a busy looking station

On to Ropley, and some more arty shots.

It's a dirty job, but..............

I don't know why I like this one, I just do?

In side the 1950's Station Masters lounge. The rule book's to hand I see.

The mag's were a bit tame in those days.

Outside again, and a magnificent looking "Wadebridge" has just arrived.

Oliver certainly did things differently

They look happy with their days work.

The end of the day, and the last train has gone.

I hope you like them :D

Gary.

Some nice images there, keep it up.
Its always a very refreshing change to see images such as this, compared to your average 3/4 record shot of loco in station.

There's probably several different ways of doing this, but this is how I did the station and crew shots.
Using Photoshop make a copy of the background layer. Then desaturate it to give you a black and white image. Next take the eraser tool, with the opacity set to 100%. Use this to erase the B&W layer in the areas that you want to be coloured. When you are happy with the result flatten the image to merge the two layers together. Finally boost the contrast a little to bring out the colour.
There it is done.

Lovely shots there of a very nice line :P

One quick question from me though, how do you create borders on photoshop? Spent a while looking but havent been able to find out how to do it!

Cheers.

Excellent photos - it really feels like you've made an effort there to produce some quality shots. Keep it up!

Here's how I do it.

Go to Image/Canvas Size.....
Change the units of measure to pixels.......
Make the size 50......
Tick the "Relative" box....
Make the "Canvas Extension Colour" White.....
Click OK.....
You will now have a white border.
Now go through the whole process again, but make the size 80 pixels and the canvas extension colour Black. Click OK and there's your border.
Of course, the sizes and colours are easily modified to your choice.

Cheers,
Gary :D

Not bad :D , just a shame that the sky's burnt out too much. Maybe you should try adjusting the levels a bit, or masking off the sky and darkening it.
