I came across this while surfing. Its a very early LSWR emu. Looks like a predesessor of some Southern emu's probably from the 1920's. Does anybody know what it is and maybe have a better photo. Since I'm making heritage Southern emu's I could even have a stab at this one. Would be fun.

The LSWR electric rolling stock was converted from steam stock and totalled 84 three-car units, each with two motor driving brakes and an intermediate trailer. They were numbered E1 thru E84 and renumbered by the Southern 1201 thru 1284. It was not until 1939 that the three-car sets were made up to four-car sets.

Were these the ones nicknamed 'Nutcracker' sets?
If you're serious about modelling this sort of thing, you may be interested in knowing that there are some really excellent books around with superb illustrations on the history of SR emus - do an Amazon search on something like 'third rail', 'electric multiple units' or other likely terms.
HTH,
Michael
