I didnt think it'd run but they must come away from the ECML they cannot keep running up and down the ECML all the time its coasting alot of people £100 just to get to london and thats before the cost of the trip. And besides there scared it might 'go pop' again.

Understandibly its not nice cancelling something worthwhile. Charter companies lost interest in D9000 after 2 years thats one of the reasons it was dumped at hornsey because the DNLL couldnt afford to keep it on the main line because they werent making any money out of her.

Matty, would you please make an effort to avoid text speak? Many people find it hard to understand, including myself.

Thanks in advance,

Thats a good point about the cost of getting to the tour. There have been quite a number of tours where I've though it looks good, but then you've got to get to London by summat o'clock in the morning which could easily mean an overnight stay.

One problem Railtour operators have is where the rolling stock is based, there are sets based in London, Crewe, Derby, Oxley, Carnforth and Bo'ness and there may be one on the Mid-hants thats basically it so if your tour has tour start anywhere than the above places the operator is looking at an expensive ECS run. So starting from London sometimes is the best option without the fare being increased which will agin put people off the tour.

Crewe, Derby, Oxley, Carnforth and Bo'ness
Those places are not London. A tour could have started from the Midlands. Derby would have been a good choice as its not too far from Barrow Hill

delticmatt100, a moderator has asked you very politely to comply with the forum rule, made clear some time ago, that text speak is not permitted on this forum. It is unnecessary, unlike on a mobile phone, and it annoys the great majority of members. Please comply with that ruling.

That is correct but then as a railtour organiser you have to choose an operator as most of the above locations feature stock owned by different operators (FM Rail, EWS, Riviera ETC) when it comes to running a train with a deltic for example things get difficult as stock owners start asking for an Audit on the owners, Try getting a freightliner engine on WCRC stock for example with drivers who will take it. There are so many people involved in railtour operation that it gets very complicated. A lot of preserved diesel tour run with EWS crew and stock as this cuts down on the planning side of things. If you run a tour with say SRPS coaches they do not own any Main line engines and also cannot crew a train. so they or you would have to go asking EWS or WCRC for drivers and engines. Running a railtour is an absolute pain but if people are moaning because say the Deltic tour is cancelled I hope they had booked a seat on it and not just because they wont get to take a picture from their garden these tours need support now! (it supposed to have cost for example 100 grand to keep 40145 mainline worthy this year) where does that 100 grand come from?

* No capitals.
* Consistent use of 'u' instead of 'you.
* 'mite' is a small, annoying insect - not a word indicating possibility.
* I also like "Deltics" - note correct capitalisation. :)

It is harder to assimilate text talk than it is to comprehend the equivalent sentence in English, if you are not trained or used to doing so.

In a few years time, it's possible we'll all be typing this way, but personally, I think would be a bad outcome. In any case, the rapid maturing of video phones will shortly make txtspk a funny anachronism... no doubt people like you will form clubs to perpetuate it's use, becoming seen as slightly humourous eccentrics.
delticmatt100 wrote: i say if people wanna use text talk then it should be allowed. there could you understand this?
Feel free to use txtspk... on your mobile phone. Don't use it on this forum, please. That's because, the membership generally does not "wanna" use txtspk and has asked the moderation team to discourage it.

Did you understand that? Or do you a require a week's quiet time to contemplate it?

Well frankly, I tried being polite. I make mistakes all the time, but not so often in posting, because I review my posts for spelling and grammatical mistakes most of the time.

Clearly you are 'having a lend of me' and there's no point wasting my time arguing the toss with you. If you can string a coherent sentence together (which you clearly can) then you can follow the very simple rules by which the forum abides.

I'm issuing a red card - for failing to heed the polite advice of a moderator.

See you in a week.

Sp 762 and others;

If your picking up on matty`s no-use of captial letters, then maybe you should look at other messages, its not just him not using captials you know, and as for txt spk, once its been picked up, it can be difficult to `give up` i find it easy to understand, and actualy, id say 3/4s of the forum members can, after all its not difficult to understand is it.

I think a relaxing of the rules is needed.

Just a little niggle i thought id better say about :D
