Heritage railtour from Newcastle on 27/07/05

Hi all,
I was at Newcastle Central @ 18.00 waiting for my 18.33 departure to Kings Cross on weds 27/7 when I noticed a rail tour/ heritage train bound for Kings Cross(depart from NCL @ 18.15).

Has anyone got any ideas on this particular journey?

It was possibly a railtour bringing people to Newcastle to see the Tall Ships thing... and I believe on that day an FM Rail 47 was the traction used (709). The tour was from St.Albans, but it set off from Newcastle back at more like 17:54 so it may not have been what you're talking about...

The other train would have been the Pride of the Nation Stock returning to King's X.

If you're talking about the orange hose thingys. then i was told they had something to do with cooling the HST sets

You would have thought that EWS could have turned out a nicer looking 90, rather than one that is showing the rigours of not being repainted in over a decade.
