Superdrug do a range of half-price Concord cameras from £49.99-£69.99 if you'd like to get a new one. For £69.99 you'll have to choose between 5 megapixels or 4 megapixels with an optical zoom.

Ad regards the commnets about shutter speed, my advice is to go digital. Most digital cameras will now find the optimum settings for your shot automatically, so you don't need to think about things like shutter speed anymore.

SLRs are much better than digicams for moving shots. Digicams, unless you get into the fairly expensive ranges are notoriously bad for moving shots. i still get frustrated with my Sony compact which blurs moving shots.

On fairly basic snappy shot models, you can't control shutter speed or aperture and so the camera makes the decision for you, meaning moving shots can be blurred due to a long exposure. Especially on a cloudy day.

Also there is often a delay between pressing shutter and taking picture, so often you can miss the subject (especially if it is moving at 40mph plus)
Why the rolled eyes? I'm commenting on your shots, isn't that what you wanted?

Or can't you take negative feedback?
That's exactly what it is, negative feedback. Constructive criticism is what is required.

Anyway leave this guy alone. He's enjoying his hobby and he's sharing it with others.

Hi,

As a photographic engineer I would like to make some constructive and hopefully helpful comments regarding the work submitted on this thread.

Firstly, the subject matter, lighting and composition of just about all the shots is excellent. I don't think there is anything wrong with the photographic procedures being adopted.

The way that a few of the shots seem to 'morph' are results that can only be produced with digital equipment. To get these effects from film type equipment would require a specially deformed lens. Essentially there is a process akin to pixel stretching occuring which is (unless the shots are being purposely edited using software designed for this) outside the photographers control. Nothing to do with shutter speed as this would only produce blur (not the problem). Aperture settings will only affect depth of field (and image density) and in any case could not produce these effects under any circumstances.

When the images are downloaded from the camera to PC (presumably), are they distorted or OK? Is there any evidence of distortion on the cameras own viewer (if it has one)? If the images show distortion on the cameras viewer it may well be worthwhile getting it attended to if possible.

I would re-iterate that this post is intended to assist in rectifying this problem and in no way a critisism of the work which I enjoyed viewing. Don't give up - it's good work.

I'm sure he'd thank you for the advice, but I'm not sure if he still uses this forum.
