CTRL Ebbsfleet + Thames Tunnel

Post by LucaZone »

Took my GF to Bluewater today for some truely knackering shopping. While conviniently being only next door to the CTRL construction going on at Ebbsfleet. Wasnt going to miss that opportunity! :)

Took around 80 shots in the evening light, to assist on vCTRL development. All taken from publicly accessible places, and boy are there some sweet spots that once the CTRL is open, will be great for Eurostar spotting! :)

Ebbsfleet International Station (background)

This was taken at the southern end of the station, after a tiny walk from Northfleet Station, along some newly created roads. Multimap Location The foreground structure is a bridge carrying the road system for the station & car parks.

Ebbsfleet International Station (background)

This is taken from the north end of Ebbsfleet International Station. Again the main station structure is in the background (all the scafold). In the foreground is the flying junction which connects the local Kent line with the CTRL, allowing for domestic trains to head into London on the high speed line. This was taken from a small mount of earth on the corner of a roundabout. The one next to the letter E in 'Swanscombe' on this map >> Multimap Location

Thames Tunnel South Portal

This shot was taken from the Galley Hill Road Bridge over the CTRL. This road and bridge are some 50-60ft above the surroundling land giving excellent views of the line and tunnel portal. Also in this picture you can see one of the two depots being used to construct the various elements of the CTRL. This one is full of ballasting trains, while the other caters for track laying equipment. Multimap Location
