APT-E at Shildon

Post by experimental »

Ive just been told that APT-E (Experimental) will be moving to Shildon on the 28th August.

If you look at my website, http://www.apt-e.org

and look in the workday reports, you will see that she has been worked on for over the past four years, and now she has had a coat of paint, the paint job should be finished before she goes!).

Restoration work has been done on PC2 and TC1, PC1 due to its condition of the cab maybe turned into a train simulator (maybe).

Typical I'm away then so won't see it :(. How will it be moved? all the coaches at once or 1 each day?

Also, according to the Northern Echo newspaper from yesterday three locos are due to arrive at Shildon between Wednesday 10th and Tuesday 17th August. These are as follows:-

Wednesday 10th - GNR J13 (LNER J52) 68846
Thursday 11th - LSWR Adams 4-4-0 No: 563
Tuesday 17th - GNR Atlantic No: 251

Stand by for more pics :)

Well here we are eventually, they finally got something new in there today (bad weather and Jarvis not letting them into the yard at York has caused delays). LSWR 4-4-0 and an LMS coach were shunted together. The driver of the diesel shunter (03090) decided they looked good together he would uncouple the shunter and let everyone take pics of just the engine (very nice of him)

We were also treated to a rarity in seeing Deltic move, here she is in the middle of a shunt moving her from 1 track to another.

According to the shunter driver GNR J52 68846 and GNR Atlantic 251 are due next week so I'll try and get down should I find out when they are due.
