I have just recieved my Hornby Pendolino, and tried it on my layout. However, on one of my corners, which is of the largest radius, the rear car (dummy)'s inner bogie comes off the track. Also, the Pendolino is taking a disliking to the Hornby standard right and left hand points, and I believe that there should be no derailment on these. Is there a way that I can stop it derailing?? I did look on the Hornby Website Forum, and I saw on there that someone had put "...and if it doesn't derail, tighten up the weights...". So, my thinking is that if it is derailing, are the weights too tight on my particular set??
TIA
Tom

Re: Hornby Pendolino problem
I've had this problem too-
The main thing is to make sure the track is perfectly level and that all the track is properly together- but apart from that- you might want to check the bogies for disalignment of the wheels or drive unit
cheers

Re: Hornby Pendolino problem
It sounds like the bogie rotation is being restricted in some way.
With the vehicle off the track and upside down, look at this bogie and see if turns left and right without restriction.
If it is being restricted, identify what is causing the restriction.
Once it appears to be unrestricted, place this 1 vehicle back on the track and HAND drive it through the bend and over the points.
Check to see if it now runs through OK.

Re: Hornby Pendolino problem
I took off the top and examined the chassis, and the problem was that the rear bogey, the one that was derailing was in fact being restricted, and this is what was causing it. However, all the other bogies on the set were being resticted too, but they didn't derail.
I have now got the set reformed the other way round, and it will do a number of my loops now, so I can use it, but it isn't any good on points at all!
Thanks,
Tom
