I have asked my mum for Live Steam Mallard this christmas but where can it be brought for under £350. And is it any good because i dont want to get it and find out it is not what i thought it was like.

you can still find it in many good model shops and also keep checking ebay. the mallard set is around £350 and the flying scotsman set is in the £525 region. but also the individual locomotives are over £200 each. a very expensive product. have you thought of buying the more common locos (£20-90) and maybe looking at fitting smoke units to them? in some loco's this is possible with the new wonders of technolagy and would be much cheaper. just an idea.

Also now with DCC you can have the smoke unit functioning when the loco is stopped.

Re: Hornby Live Steam
Cheers for the advise lads but i would rather have live steam to smoke units, ive managed to find one for £299, im not bothered about getting other locos though, although an A3 would be nice to compare each class, now just to find a rolling road to run the loco in.
