Can anyone tell what Dapol's Class 150 is like? I've purchased an ex-display case model, boxed in very good condition for £38. Do they run well and what can i expect?
Thanks,
Andy.

Well, I posted the same question on the DEMU forum (and got a response) and was told it was a load of .. Then again, I was asking a bunch of rivet counters.

Hi there,
I think the general concensous is that the Dapol model was too flat sided. The real 150's have quite a pronounced 'tumblehome', or curve to the lower bodyside, which the Dapol model doesn't have. Basically, the body shape isn't great. The model looks to flat sided compared to the real thing. I don't know what they run like, but Bachmann are planning an all new model of the 150 for 2007 and if it's anything like the 108, it should be good!

I have a Dapol 150 and have had it for years. It runs very well and pick up is good as well. I bought it second hand so yours should be very good. I am not getting rid of mine at all.

I also have a Dapol 150 that I bought off ebay that I managed to finally convert into a 150/1 from a 150/2 using Howes and Hurst parts. For the purist, Its not a well captured model at all

. But as I used to travel on these beasts regularly when I was a kid, I have always wanted to have a model of a class 150 as I really love these DMU's. Perfomance is pretty good and the model can shift but when I first tested it out, it was not very responsive and the 2 carbon brushes had stuck to the communtator inside the motor but a good clean and new brushes made a whole world of difference and it ran just like a new motor. I am looking forward to getting hold of one from Bachmann when they come out and I have a feeling that it might be released at Warley tomorrow! I will be there armed with my video camera and I hope to get hold of some rare stuff for my collection too, so if you see me, feel free to say hi!
