Hi guys.

Im hoping someone here has had experience with Lok Sound Decoders and fitting them. I have a DCC ready class 25 by Bachmann and wish to add a SWD class 25 sound set on a Lok Sound decoder with a 23mm speaker as supplied. Is instalation relativly easy Wll the speaker fir on top of the motor area in the loco? Does the decoder have a socket to go straight into the bachmann one or do I need to do something more drastic.

Also do these work with the Bachmann EZ Command system (im new to DCC and this is the controler im currently using)

Many thanks

Andy

Not sure about fitting - have a look at the review of the sound-fitted one on modelrailforum.com - it has a big speaker in it so the default speaker should fit very easily I would have thought.

Yes, it works great with the EZ-Command, you'll get access to nine of the functions I believe which is plenty to get a good deal out of it :)

Ah sorry it's the 20 that's on modelrailforum, but still, it's one of the ones they'll shortly be releasing fitted with sound so I dare say it'll be fine.

Another quick question. THe Lok Sound decoders have 21 pin plug (am i correct in this) but my current Bachmann model has an 8 pin socket. I presume Im going to have to remove the current socket and hard wire the decoder as if the model didnt have a DCC socket. Am I right in this or completly off track. Its all new ground for me!

My dad's got three or four of the SWD decoders and they are all 8 pin.

Bachmann sound-onboard loco's use a 21pin version. That said, there are 8/21 converters.

Look at the loco, and then talk to Steve at SWD - i think you'll find you'll be ok with 8 pin.

I will be rining SWD on Tuesday when there next open to talk to them and order my decoder. I have a nice weathered 25 waiting for it.

Many thanks

There are full fitting instructions with all of SWD decoders.

I've fitted sound to a class 20 and 37. The 20 was the hardest but I just followed the instructions.

SWD will advise you on the best choise of speeker etc.
