Many thanks to the person who answered my question, but I meant one can buy very small square displays with number lights in them, eg 1-9. That is for the numbered platforms. They are before the station to show the driver which platform he is going on. They are aroung but I cannot find any. Thanks.

You'll have great fun building one yourself! You'll need a small 7-segment display usually available from Rapids/Maplins etc, but I don't think they are white/yellow, mainly green or red which is a bit of a problem.

There is a book by Roger Amos entitled 'Wiring a layout' (I think), and this has some details on building your own theatre boxes.

If you don't feel like building your own (probably a good choice) Roger Murray does a good range of signals including a theatre box available at £22.

Thanks for that. As you say SMALL 7 segment displays tend to be green or red. However, if you run a green one at or near it's rated current, it is quite bright. Place a sheet of yellow acetate in front of the 7 segment green display and it looks a yellowish colour.
Alternatively, have a dig in the attic/cellar for a 1970's LED calculator with a green or yellow display, Commodore I believe did a green one.
