Scuse the mess  The very early stages of the baseboard(s). And some extremely early dodgey track laying  im glad that got ripped up wothout hesitaion!

Image

The early stages of tracklaying. bad focus i know :) and my little experiment over to the right.

Let me know what you all think. Next weekend wiring the layout up will begin. Then scenery not too long after.

heres a video of my Merchant navy, A3 and freightliner 66 running on my layout. Not high quality video, and very poor light. Once my lighting is wired up i will take another video.

Seeing the progress you have made on your layout is absolutely inspirational.

I have an assortment of N Gauge rolling stock, which I am itching to build a layout for.

I'm not sure I'll be able to build anything up to the standards you have, but I aim to build a layout on a 6' x 3' baseboard so I can fit realistic length trains on.

Could you possibly suggest any decent books to help me get started. I find the way you have created the rock faces around the tunnel and the grass on the track where you had the 66 parked wonderful.

Cheers

Gday,

It's wonderful to know that it is an inspiration :D.

In regards to books, i have never purchased or read a book on model railways. However, my subscription to Railway Modeller has been invaluable, and combined with the wide range of resources on the internet, what more would you need? I got alot of my ideas from just browsing the internet.

The rock faces are using woodland scenic rockmoulds, and i am very pleased with the result. I Applied the paint using an airbrush. The above pictures are fairly old and i have since touched up the gaps in the paint, and detailed the rocks a bit further as well as the greenery around the tunnel.

Hopefully i will get around to getting some more pictures and posting them. With work and other comitments it's getting hard to fins the time to work on my layout now!

Regards,

Alex

That is incredible!

I wish I could work at that speed, I have been working on my 00 layout for nearly 2 years and not quite finished - I blame lack of materials / time :)

I look forward to seeing further pics of your layout. For my own reference to help with my soon-to-be-started layout, do you have any good web links where I can at least gain a basic grasp of what to do with scenery etc.

I'm also pretty impressed with the layout table, did you build this yourself?

Gday,

I found the New Railway Modellers website to be a great help in the earlier stages for basics.

Yes i built the baseboards myself. Using 10mm MDF and 2"x1" soft pine for brasing. I tend to use thicker baseboards to help minimise track noise and maximise strength.

Hi all,

Finally i have some new images of my layout. I have finally got back into it again. My girlfriend and I did some scenery and further plastering on my layout over the weekend. Pictures below.

Don't worry! the line down the center of the baseboards will be hidden with hedgeing!

Hope you all enjoy and all types of feedback is appreciated.
