N scale buildings

Post by Astrovana »

Does anyone know any websites for companies that make british outline modern n scale buildings/trackside. I am starting a new project on some old baseboards and I am planning to create a small part of a market town.
Any websites greatly appreciated thanks

My experience is that the best ones don't have websites, better to buy Railway Modeller and look in the back..........

One thing I do say, don't MIX card and plastic, they don't gel at all well together!!!

I had a brief flirtation with card, but in the end went back to plastic.......have looked at "stone" (plaster), but since I only do portable units now, weight is an issue.

Card always strikes me as too "smooth".......and too glossy....even in 'N'........I tried semi and full matt varnishing over card......no good.......most of what I build now is more or less scratched, but utilising plastic kit parts as well as sheets, etc..all made unique by the way they are put together.......though making brick plastic really look like the normal randomly different shade bricks in N takes time and patience.

I agree, don't mix, have one or the other. I went through a cardboard period. now i do plastic. plastic is a slight bit more labour intensive (if you paint and build your plastic models). Cardboard are simple push/cut out and glue together. If you were going to use cardboard, id suggest metcalfe. They are the best cardboard buildings going around in my oppinion. I buy ratio kits myself they look great once painted up and stuck together. The hornby liddle end buildings look great too!
