Model subways

Post by subwayrunner »

Proto 2000 started making NYC subway cars a couple of years ago. Ther's a company that I can't think of the name of right now who makes Chicago El cars. Does somebody make and Underground train sets?

EFE do a diecast underground train. It's unmotored, but apparently very easy to put a motor in, and looks fairly good as well.

Metro models make excellent quality brass underground trains from 1978 Dstock to the 1996 northern and jubilee trains. Little bit expensive. Try http://www.metromodels.net

I suppose there isnt really a market for underground and subway trains as most of them run 'underground' so wouldnt be seen unless you modeled a cut away section type model. That could look quite intresting.

Remember that the vast majority of the underground is, well, not underground. Take the central line for example - east of Leyton and west of White City is all in the open (with the exception of Leytonstone - Newbury Park), on the Met, everything north of Finchley Road is overground... The only 100% underground lines are the Victoria and Drain, everything else has plenty of modelling potential for those that are interested.

Actually, Harrow on the Hill could be extremely interesting to model, especially back when the GC was open...
