What to Buy next?

Post by petermakosch »

Hello!
Now someone needs to buy me a present, so I thought about another train for me model railway that i have yet to build. I have the following:
  • Virgin Voyager 221
  • HST Set
  • Class 66
  • Class 67
  • Class 4 MT
  • Other Odd bits and pieces.
BUT, i dont know what else to get?
I was thinking maybe a Class 37 or 58, but i'm not sure :/ Maybe the new livered Midland Mainline HST - but then I dont want it to be too expensive. I like modern stuff really, well, Diesel loco's and trains. I probably wont ever do an electric set and the only steam I want is the 4MT and then Sir Nigel Greasly but I will purchase that myself.

Could anyone suggest any other trains they think and maybe some links so i can see them in model terms?
Thanks,
Pete

How about a Class 170, you can pick those up cheap.

Hornby 155? 50something quid may be a little steep though.

Hmm, sorry, i should have really looked at my stock.
I have a CT 3-car 170 and a Lima RR/CT 156 (lucky!). I did think about some wagons, but, hmm, a bit boring :P

Also thought about a 158. I havent got one, but would like one.

.....and bloody cracking my version i bought from him is!!! :D :D :D

Unfortunatley, this auction has now finished, so its probably a trawl through the shows if you want one.

Also you said you didnt want to be too expensive, but you mention the VT221 - the lowest pirce ive seen on this is £100 - and they RRP at £120 - pretty expensive in m view, but maybe not in yours.

The 66 is good :)

Cheers

Hi, the 4MT is Fragile, but excellent. Well worth it.

( The 4MT is my favourite class so I'm biased )

Yes, but there are three 4MT classes, the 4MT 2-6-0 (nos 76000-114)based on the Ivatt 4F 2-6-0; the 4MT 2-6-4T (nos 80000-154) based on the Fairburn 2-6-4T, itself based on the Stanier and Fowler varients beforehand, and the 4MT 4-6-0 (nos 75000-79) which is effectively a tender version of the tank engine.
