They should get you started :) I know they are all kits but thats probably all we're gonna have for a long time, i can't see Bachmann making a 442!!

Also what would i like to see from manufacturers??? Models released on time *cough* Bachmann *cough*. :)
Alright, cheers.

I've checked those out-I'm going to look into the Hurst Models 442 conversion. Somewhere I have an article on that...

Cheers

In german the word for boiler is exactly the same as that for kettle... Now what does that tell you about steam locos?

You share the same project as me then. :)

I am awaiting the delivery of my 5th Lima Mk3 thanks to the wonders of ebay which is one of the few places u'll find lots of Lima Mk3's, and at quite could prices, think i spent about 50 quid on all 5, which isnt bad.

Ive also ordered my 442 'basics', but the order has been put on the waiting list - they've gotta make it first i believe! When i get into the project i post some screenies somewhere so u can all have a look

May have a go at scratch building a Desiro some time soon too.

Cheers

Well, I haven't started it :( ... I'm just looking into it. I'm also looking for a relatively cheap Hornby Networker on Ebay. Although, I may look at a 'slammer' as well/instead-it would be great if you posted some finished photos. :D

Cheers

Yeah, I meant a kit from DC kits or southernpride (sorry, I should have made it clearer in my original post :D )...

However, last night I found someone selling a southern pride 4-REP, 4-VEP and a 4-EPB, in Blue-Grey and Blue, as well as 2 4-CEP centre coaches. It would be nice if someone was selling a ready built 5-WES!!! Wishful thinking, methinks!

Here's the link to the bloke selling the slammers;

Cheers :D

With all the variations being introduced I wouldn't be surprised if Hornby or Bachmann turned their attention to the Desiros before too long.

Turning a previous argument on it's head: RTR EM gauge track and stock. I remember Bachmann were talking about this idea about 10-12 years ago but nothing came of it.

I think the problem was the cost of producing two systems, and most people not wanting to change their whole layouts and rolling stock.

That would be nice! :)

Thing is that i don't understand, is surely, some day, the manufacturers will run out of things to make, and so will start turning to things like Desiros etc, but is that day ever gonna come? Also would be nice to see manufacturers making new models rather than making the same ones, for example the 47 - Helijan have updated the model of both Hornby and Lima (im all up for updating models), but then Hornby are still releasing the 47 in similar liveries that are already available.

Same with the 08, Bachmann have already done it. So rather than these companies battling it out by making the same model, id like to see them concentrate on newer models which havnt been done yet.

But for now, scratch building it is.

Cheers
