Having played with DCC I can heartily recommend it. It's not cheap (though it is getting cheaper now) but the advantages to the operation (and simpler wiring) are well worth it.

Paul - I finally got up to Godley Junction this morning with digicam and took these four photos (note - the car belongs to Mrs N - not me!

This is the bridge over Brook Fold Lane - looking south

Bridge over Brook Fold Lane - looking north this time. Notice that it has been widened by about 8 feet.

This is a view of an underbridge on the mainline which leads to the old Walls bacon factory - now Kerry Foods.

Finally, you'll like this one best of all - I clambered up the embankment looking for traces of 1500V ironwork and found the base of the brace on the last gantry at the limit of the electrification here - this is no more than 10 foot from the eastern side of the bridge in the first two photos

Hope these are of some use to you!

Hi Steve

Thanks very much for going to the trouble of taking these pictures. They most certainly will be of use to me. It is a good job I didn't just go ahead with the small amount of information I had otherwise the two sides of the bridge would both have been made from metal girders not as shown in the pictures.

I am planning to make a trip to Godley Junction at some point next year as I need to get a feel for the area but these pictures will allow me to get the bridge constructed over the winter.

Once again thank you.

Cheers

Not alot of progress at the moment. Next plan is to start on the scenery as I am now quite happy with the operation of the layout.

I am currently concentrating on rolling stock construction (BOC tankers and the UKF Anhydrous Ammonia tankers along with adding etched details to other items).

I have created a fotopic site with a few new images on of the layout and rolling stock

Hi

Glad you liked the pictures.

There will only be one season which at the moment I am thinking of Autumn as the colours are better and the line was in its decline during the years I am modelling.

I have uploaded some more pictures of my previous layout. Some of the pictures show the original type of mast that was constructed using 1/16" brass tube. The new layout will use 1/16" H column and 1/16" x 1/32" I Beam.

In addition I have uploaded some more loco and rolling stock pictures.

I am currently experimenting with semaphore signals and how to make them work.

Cheers

Impressive work Paul - but this reaffirms by decision to restrict my railway modelling to PC's only!!!

Looks great. Still toying with the idea of changing to 'N'. Maybe this might make my mind up for me!

No railway related christmas presents.

Current situation with the layout is that I have now installed the point motors on the Brookfold Sidings part of the layout along with the MERG (Model Electronics Railway Group http://www.merg.org.uk) method of point control which is compatible with DCC but also allows control with either a conventional control panel or a PC. (Picture on my Fotopic site http://www.paulcheffings.fotopic.net/p12203273.html).

I have also started working on replacing the cardboard scenic place holders with 4mm plywood ready for the ModRoc bandages.

My other progress has been building yet more wagons.

Cheers
