Re: Driver's Guide

I would very much like to see the Drivers' Aid box redesigned. I'd make it smaller overall, with adjustable transparency, higher resolution, and zoom controls on the track guide. Speed limits should be displayed for convenience. The gradient map should also be incorporated into the same tab as the tr...

Re: Yellow free-roam destination markers

Heh. This explains much! I have to say that I really don't like the way crashes are handled, so this knowledge should help see fewer of them. :D

Re: Happy people discussion Only

The supplied routes seem to offer plenty of scope for future scenario building. I'm looking forward (and frustrated that I can't be doing this NOW, dammit!) to seeing what I can come up with when the tools are released. We should be able to do a lot more than we could with MSTS 'out of the box' and ...

Re: Road traffic Question

The road traffic is there, but it seems to behave quite strangely. I have watched my train pass over a road bridge using the free camera, and after the train has disappeared from view, road traffic has suddenly appeared on the road - it's almost the opposite of what you want to happen. So, the traff...

Re: Stuttering due to fluctuating frame rates

I have a feeling that certain models are causing some problems. I have a fairly ancient system by gaming standards now, and while I can generally get some reasonably smooth performance, there are certain specific areas that reduce things to a slideshow. The Reading station area is the worst example....

Re: Free Roam

It is a bit of a strange oversight, this. It is normally fairly standard practice to give some kind of visual and/or audio feedback to indicate that you have successfully done something. Buttons get pressed, and other objects move or change colour. I think they should consider some kind of feedback ...

Re: Do we really need the Disc in the drive.?

I like to play the odd game or two on my laptop when I'm away from home and bored in a hotel room. I don't really appreciate having to carry around a bunch of CDs/DVDs for no good reason. Forcing people to whack a disk in a drive does very little to protect the developers' product, but does serve as...

Re: Member Reviews

There seems to almost be a consensus that the graphics in this sim are 'good.' I have to say that I disagree entirely. Perhaps I'm coming at this from a slightly different angle to many people here. Perhaps many people here mostly stick to train sim and the like and don't really have much interest i...

Re: Timetabled scenarios will *not* be activated with dev. tools

I have to say that I'm staggered at this. Timetables and scenarios that revolve around attempting to stick to those timetables are absolutely fundamental to a rail sim, surely? This is the sort of basic functionality that one would expect out of the box. Shocking.

I second quite a few of the above suggestions (or third, or fourth, or 25th.) two more: Autosave - activities saved every 10 minutes, so if you fall asleep and pass a red signal after getting close to finishing a 2 hour activity you don't have to start all over again. Real weather a la FS2002. Dead ...

Quick question:
How do you arrive at the wheel radius figure? I assume that this is a driving wheel. If that's the case, surely it should be closer to a meter?

It would be great if you could send me that .eng file for Galatea. I am slowly getting there with the whole performance thing, but any help at all is appreciated. I have tweaked the Jubilee a little and it is working better, but still not performing quite as well as expected. My email address is now...

I understand the basics of how a steam loco works. I have read the tech docs that came with MSTS. I have read some very good posts in this very forum which I vaguely understand some of. My point is, has anyone considered putting together some kind of definitive document together that explains the wo...

SteamSmokeUnitsPerPoundOfFuel( 0.1 )
SteamMaxSmokeUnitsReleaseRate( 0.1 )

Do these changes have any effect on performance or are they purely cosmetic? I get a bit sick of driving around pumping out black smoke - most pictures I see of steam locos have mostly whitish exhaust...
