From the VSOE's i have seen they have generally had a diesel at the back for the whole trip, Insurance for a failure i guess.

There are 2 gresley coaches behind 60008 (1591 and 1592), They were rebuilt during the war for use by eisenhower, bullet proof shutters etc.
I think they are painted in a dark, dull grey.

I think it is unlikly that HST's will be used unless some operator has them lying around. There are only 2-3 power cars in storage at the moment (ex-VT) all the rest were snapped up.

I think the National Air/Space musem down in washington has the better idea of putting one in a hanger, although it is an air-france one and The colours never looked right it it.
It's shame they will never fly again, I used to see it most afternoons fly over when i was back in the uK
