I am not passing judgement on the rights and wrong of the recent guards strike, but what is the position on guards/conductors in the driving cab of a train? This frequently happens up here, the conductor goes in for a chat with the driver. I regularly see this, for more than 50% of a journey. Huh??...

I've just got back from Birmingham , via Walsall due to sh*t info at New Street I bought my ticket to hamstead, went to the right platform for the 1500 train to Walsall a calling at all stations (or thats what it said) We pulled off and the gaurd came down to check the tickets didn't say anythin...

I still see them quite often when i'm goin in and out of B'ham New St on the end of the platforms with their notepads, cameras etc.

In the west Midlands area you can buy a daysaver for about £2.50 and you can use them anywhere within the CENTRO area on the train, metro, (im not sure about the bus though)
