Hi Tom, Great work here, I had started sometime ago to build a CG loco cab (perhaps I ought to have another go), well done. Please don’t take this as criticism, as it is not meant as any thing other than helpful advice about locomotive construction. Some of the fittings you have made could do with m...

I’ve been reading this tread with interest, First, a clarification point about double fairlie boilers. They do not share the same firebox; they are for all intents and purposes, two boilers back to back sharing the same water! The reason for this is obvious, if one end of the engine is working harde...

Working with the same idea, this weekend I have been building this... http://www.gadd-family.co.uk/photos/msts/jca/locos/001/jca_001_001.jpg Should be an easy task to take the renders from this model and apply them to a simple (low poly) version of the same model!!! Yes to question 2, use the "Auto-placement" tool on the RE toolbar.
It's a pretty good tool for adding allsorts of stuff, including fences and trees!!!

To get 3dsconv.exe to work you must name the materials in your model as detailed in the documents that are with the 3dsconv.exe. Material names are “SolidNorm_1”, “SolidNorm_2” or “TransNorm_1” etc… You will also find that when you export from 3DSMAX that the axis pivots are all over the place and t...

Hi Ben, The lower the poly count the better, obviously! If you can make a texture that has as many fence panels in one go rather than repeating the same panel on each poly then good. If you can make up custom fence shapes that are as long as you can get away with then even better. For example, You k...

I copied the cab view for "No1" from the Piddington locos "No15 & 16". There is a cab; I have just made a blank ace file for it. Okay, I've just located the problem. I forgot to edit the engine file. Either; change the line in the engine file From: CabView ( pixie.cvf ) To: CabView ( blank.cvf ) Or,...

Thanks Bazza, will reply to your posts latter. Tom, the stuff from the website has never been made public before as most of it remains unfinished. I have released them on the website so that I can easily update any of it without having to constantly go through UKTrainSim (I am very reluctant to uplo...

You guys must be careful when adding fences in MSTS as it can really pound the frame rates and the tile object count. If you can make your own purpose built shapes for given areas it will make a great deal of difference. I’ve found the same applies to trees, if you are making your own (which is easy...

Bodgit & Scarper goes World Wide

The time has come to open the Bodgit & Scarper Website. http://bodgit-scarper.freehostia.com It is, and will remain, a work in progress. But for the time being there are few bits and pieces available from the site and a message board for you to leave your comments and suggestions! I am currently wor...

In preparation of uploading stuff to the new Bodgit & Scarper website I have been ironing out some of the wrinkles in “No 1”, the old vertical boiler-ed tram engine and taken her for a test steam. She is seen below with her replacement “Bridget”, they do make rather strange bed-fellows! Both locos w...
