Tom, that scene set up certainly looks good. Actually, if you can find the time I would appreciate some tuition on lighting as I find it very difficult to get any reasonable results with my scenes. The same also applies to your material settings; the bronze settings on the stuffing box I sent you ar...

GWR sight feed lubricators can be an absolute nightmare to fill when warm or if the loco is in steam, it stems from the fact that the shut of valve on the top of the lubricator does not work particularly well. It is rather an odd design that allows the driver to choose from one of two condensing coi...

More on miniature

Had a quick play with some 3D models just to prove to myself what gauges are what. Below is a shot of a "x4" rule that I made and a piece of UKNG track. It shows that at x4 UKNG is perfect for 7" gauge track!!! http://www.gadd-family.co.uk/photos/msts/miniature/misc/misc_001.jpg Andrew, CME. Bodgit ...

A WORK IN PROGRESS. Continuing the cab fitting theme I present a “Sight Feed Lubricator”, this is of the single glass type seen on many narrow gauge and industrial engines. Still to be added to the model are the lubricator drain valve & pipe, plus the feed regulator valve. All of this is purely for ...

All the steam brakes I have ever used have always been in the on position when the steam is applied. Dicey? Not really, the steam brake cylinder is never very far from the drivers brake valve (what can go wrong) and the driver is the only person on a train who has at his disposal a number of other m...

Tom, I have sent you a email, sorry. I have also spent half an hour with a photo (knew I had some) of “LINDA” and done a proper regulator stuffing box. It is still not quite accurate but it is now very close. Thought that I might do a few other bits, a sight feed lubricator and maybe a steam brake v...

Another render, this time with a few fixing studs and nuts, there would normally be about six studs from the backhead onto which the stuffing box is mounted. Two of these studs are usually longer so that the stuffing ring (the oval shaped piece) can be tightened against the packing. This model is qu...

Tom, You are welcome to the mesh if you want? I can put it into 3DS.
Also notice that in your last render that you now have two reversers???
My own preferance is for a lever pole, very few British narrow gauge had screw reversers.
