Just to add onto this thread - if you don't have a virus checker you can download AVG from http://www.grisoft.com it's free so there's not really an excuse and it hasn't let me down yet. Even though it is a free programme it's activly updated with virus information - mine updated at 7.00pm last nigh...

Dale, I've seen this a couple of times in the last month or so when sending a mail to AOL accounts - it would a ppear they (temporarilly) stop accepting mail from certain ISPs (or at least parts of them) when there are large numbers of viri around. Not sure what the rationale they use for doing this...

Have a word with Champy - I've got one under consideration for him so it may be of help.
Problem is it's a little way down the to do list at the moment.

How's this for value?
Some people like to buy rover tickets to see the country - but maybe a virgin value fare would be better. Below is the output from the virgin trains website for a journey from Preston to Edinburgh on the morning of 15th March: PRESTON : 08:45 STAFFORD : 11:15 (change trains) STAFFORD : 11:35 BIRMING...

Bounding Box - can't find the post
Hi all, I know the post is about - I've searched in every way i can think of and no sign. A while ago I stumbled across a detailed post outlining how a member sets up bounding boxes but now I can't find it for love nor money. If you are that person or you know where it is can you please let me know ...

Shaun, It sounds as though the locomotive was built using square wheels to cut down the number of polys used. If you go back to the original texture you should find that there's an alpha channel lurking there to make the square bits vanish. You should just need to ensure you have the same alpha chan...

Thanks for the responses. I had a play with opening gamepack files in standard Gmax and vice versa and it threw errors about the LOD information but generally all the material editing worked - so did look like a step in the right direction. Marc that's just about the way I was thinking after reading...

Removing Materials
Evening all, Looking at the front page for this forum perhaps it should be named "GMAX makes Alex's brain hurt ..." In a complete flip from the normal kinds of questions about materials and texturing - how can you remove them from models and scenes in the game pack. Having been searching arou...

GMAX has drop-downs for texture formats, instead of texture naming - on the train sim material tools form. Shader: Basically you want TexDiff for normal textures, BlendATex for alpha/trans. For transparent texture, set Alpha Test Mode to Trans. Set the Mip LOD bias to -2 or -3 if you get texture ba...

Thanks for that - another vertical learning curve moment and had completely forgotten about trans. b101uk are those options in Gmax? I can't remember seeing them. And while we're talking about materials - which is the material which will support gradients without banding? Mark Shipmans 37s display t...
