Re: The dark view from across the Pond
Another forum had a long diatribe of thinly veiled criticisms of RS (the company) and its staff. A small portion may have had some validity. Perhaps the most targeted critique was focused on marketing. There are two markets for the new RW. One is "us", the existing customers. The other are the new ...

Re: The dark view from across the Pond
The reason RS is generally directed towards Europe is because the US is a very 'train-unfriendly' country, where even passenger trains must let freight have priority. Over here, trains are a vital part of the transport system. Indeed, without them Europe would grind to a halt. People are more car-m...

Re: The dark view from across the Pond
Would this not be more suitable for the RS forums where it will definately be seen? Adam and Derek come here of their own choice in their own time.. surely this is something that needs to be seen and read by RS in it's official, work capacity? Thanks Pete, yes it might, and if Derek hadn't replied ...

The dark view from across the Pond
Well, actually, from this side of the Pond, but reflecting the concerns from across the Pond (as I spend most of my time on NA Railroads and forums). I have no idea if this is news to those on UK Trainsim, but across the Pond RS (KRS or whatever) has had, since it came out, a very, very rough recept...

Re: The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway.
Markjudith, I was going to post the link for the embankments, but it appears that they have unfortunately been removed. Here's the thread I found them in viewtopic.php?f=234&t=87359&p=1053077&hilit=loft+embankments#p1053077  Unfortunate - see this link to Train Sim across the Pond - second pos...

Re: Colton & Northern Released
Hi Longbow - thank you on Rich's behalf. Re the fps, this is something that Rich had noticed and probably is, to an extent, the result of a "trackplan" style route. Rich is planning moving to more conventional "point to point" railroads next (apart from a possible special one off). For sure Rich has...

Re: The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway.
Yes, the Baldwin was their 4th locomotive, Lyn. I think it was purchased in the first year of operation (1898?), as the company realised they were short of power. There was apparently an engineering strike at the time so they looked to America. Not surprisingly , despite its name, it was known as "Y...

Re: The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway.
You have no idea how that tugs at my heartstrings :) I spent a lot of my teenage years driving from Braunton, where I lived (or being driven by my father) to various parts of the line so that I could walk it and see what remained. Even took girlfriends on outings to see the "industrial archaeology" ...

Colton & Northern Released
Now available over at http://www.allaboardrails.com/colt1.htm Rich Garber's new route for RS (builder for MSTS of Canton, Ohio, East Metro and Cumberland routes). As with his recent Rascal & Cottonwood, this route is full of his own content (all definitely North American) and own style. In importing...

Re: Disappearing routes again
Yes thanks Pete - all updates in place! I know they were supposed to have sorted that out. Perhaps I will reinstall the Mk2 update.
Thank you for replying.

Disappearing routes again
I have searched through the forums for this problem (as I know it has come up before, but I can't find it). I installed the new Dabears mini route, and at the end of the instalation the Routes.xml dropped from 112kb to 9.9kb, only having Dabears on it (original backed up of course). The route runs w...

Rail Sim America
For those of us who have an interest in "Railroading" as well as railways, there is a new site that has just been set up to forward RS in a positive way in the US. Rich Garber (known originally in the MSTS community for the routes Canton/Suddenly/Thomson, East Metro and Ohio, and who recently releas...

Re: Colton & Northern - last nuts & bolts...
Hi locoroco, I have been in touch with Rich to see what "default" US assets might be included in the route. Rich uses his own structures, the track is non standard as are the roads, which really leaves the foliage, which again is a mix of 3DTrains foliage pack, RSDL's foliage pack (I think), Rich's ...

Colton & Northern - last nuts & bolts...
Rich Garber (Allaboard) has very nearly finished the route and now moving on to the scenarios. Right of way added and a load more. This sim really does support that extra bit of detail :) Rod http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/August1929/Trackplan2_800_600/TP221-1.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/al...
