Thanks for that Dave - I'll give it a go this evening.

I'd just also like to take this opportunity to add my huge thanks to you for Thames-Mersey and the outstanding support you give for this brilliant route!

Regards

Thames-Mersey/Kosmos question

Like many others, I run my MSTS with seperate folders for Routes & Trains, renaming to "Routes" & "Trains" , as required. Routes_Default Routes_SVR Routes_ELR Routes_Skipton Routes_TM etc Trains_Default Trains_SVR Trains_ELR Trains_Skipton Trains_TM I have come across a slight problem with Kosmos an...

I use the 3-D perfection sounds for US freight cars, and also UK & Euro bogie freight stock. You can't get better! It's a payware download (if that bothers you), available here:

Its definitely worth getting the ELR CD or KWVR CD just for the Stuart Williamson sound sets alone - both steam & diesel! I use them on a lot of my driveable & AI locos on other routes too.

Re: CALLING BUILDERS OF LONDON-MERSEY ROUTE

........... I dont see any reason why I cannot locate a short piece of track in suitable locations, parallel, buried, but not connected to the mainline for trainspotting activities. ..........however I am open to suggestions as to where else one might like these spotter locations inserted into the ...

240GB! Alternatively, you could do what I do and partition your IDE drive into C (10Gb) & D (the rest). Install your operating system (XP?) on the partition C, use partition D for data (downloads etc)) and install all your programs, including MSTS, on the SATA Raid0 array (drive E). Works quite well...

Use Raid0 to speed-up reading & writing to disk, as it writes to 2 drives simultaneously. You can use IDE drives in Raid0 , but SATA drives have even higher transfer speeds - helps cut-out the stuttering when MSTS is loading new tiles, or AI trains. The best ones run at 10,000rpm eg Western Digital ...

You need 2 hard-drives, and there will be a setting in the bios to "configure SATA as RAID", or something like that. The manual that came with your m/b should explain how to set it up. If you don't have a manual, you should be able to download one from the manufacturers website.

Matt

Don't know if 1.5Gb is worth it, but certainly upgrading to 1Gb is. Best to spend the extra on a second SAT HD and run in Raid0 formation, which definitely speeds things up!

The best one - Sylium - went down the pan about this time last year. They were stock-only anyway, and available via the Web. It seems that the French are reluctant to pay for their Trainsimming (vive la Republique?) and, as LucaZone says, there is a lot of freeware available.

Not striclty "on topic" but...... Its all to do with the space/time continuum and the flux capacitor. What is needed is 1.1 Jigawats. :-? :D And your loco has to be travelling at exactly 88mph... ........great idea - has anyone modelled the BTTF De Lorean/"Old Time" US Steam loco combination? Tim

Sorry to re-open this, but I've recently been playing with these steam sounds and applying them to locos on other routes. I think they are "state of the art", the best yet, as good as it gets so far! The route itself is great (especially with the signal update), but IMHO, it's worth the money just f...
