Story

My Desktop was built nearly 3 years ago just to run MSTS. Specs include: 3gHz Intel P4 CPU, 2Gb Crucial RAM, XP on an IDE HD with MSTS on 2 x WD Raptor SATA HD’s in RAID0 (striped) formation……… and I spent £350 on a “state-of-the-art-at-the-timeâ€

You missed one - SOUND. I want steam sounds that are realistic & in sync. (with masses of respect to Stuart Williamson & Jeff Ashton). And I want sounds that don't cause the sim to grind to a halt!

Here's hoping!!

I always find it best to install new routes to a temporary folder or folders, and then sort it out from there. Once installed to the the temp folders, you can copy & paste the contents to the Train Simulator folders. CFCL is the Route and goes into ROUTES, MAT-CFCL is the TRAINSET and goes into TRAI...

Just loaded this route onto my laptop and trying it out at work in lunchtime - it's FANTASTIC! Easy to install, great misty French atmosphere (am I right Emmanuel?), great stock, fabulous scenery. What more could you want? Beats a lot of commercial add-ons into a "cocked hat". I'm sure I'll be playi...

What PC?

I’ve been asked to build (or possibly just buy?) a new PC for a friend, to be very capable of running MSTS as well as possible now, and hopefully be powerful enough for the new Sims due next year(?). Having built my own PC a couple of years ago, and tried to optimise for MSTS (3GhzP4/SATA Raid/980...

Thanks Jon & Otto, I have now managed to get the files from the downloads page. (I still can't see them from the original links - I think I have a problem somewhere - will investigate).

Cheers

On the same topic, we are thinking of taking "Bredon" on the road again, maybe next year, perhaps for one seaon only. (Appeared in RM early 80's, last exhibited in the late '80s, has been at Pecorama until recently).

Do you think there would be any interest?

Cheers

If all the above good advice doesn't work, try turning down the sound-card acceleration. You can find this in Control Panel/Sounds & Audio Devices/SpeakerSettings/Advanced/Performance. Alternatively, go to Start/Run, type "dxdiag", choose the Sound tab, and adjust the slider. I think this was sugges...
