well, whilst things like fences and so on definately improve a route, it is a case of finding a compromise, isn't it? from my understanding, it's the poly count that hits frame rates, not the texturing, and adding fences will hit the frame rates hard. so if you want to drive in a very lumpy manner, ...

well, i think i may make dorchester as it is now: the main route will be towards bournemouth, and unless someone can show me a track plan, i simply can't understand this dorchester south as a terminus thing. i concede that weymouth is GWR though, though i had thought it was southern territory. total...

i didn't know about the terminus thing... how would that have worked? i could understand waterloo trains having to reverse at dorchester west, but the alignnment seems a bit strange for a reversing into south... but i know very little about the area. do you mean yeovil trains reversing, or waterloo ...

yes, real trains run on 2 rails. but some real trains pick up electric current from a metal beam that runs parallel to the tracks, and some pick it up from a metal beam that runs above the tracks. :)

some real trains carry their own power source...

well, perhaps. i think i'll do it 80s, but who said it couldn't be "fictional" and have that on anyway.

it'll be a long time before i get to poole, and i'm kinda scared about that bit, since it's such a conurbation around there! should kill FPS!

probably the same as a normal tender: fuel. it did have to have some gas to run. and i believe it was a one off.
