Look Ma, British too!

Someone suggested I do a bit more British stuff

So I did....

If I tell you that it is pure English, and that you need Xtracks to run it, do you know what it is?

Music, anyone?

I just uploaded this street organ: http://www.snijderj.btinternet.co.uk/draaiorgel.jpg It comes with a tune (over one minute long), basically an MP3 converted to a .wav. That explains the humongous file size, the model itself is only a few polygons. It is easy to add other tunes, I have a set of fiv...

Gavin, OK, no worry. The reason I upload to UKTrainSim is that I find it one of the best sites around, not just for the files but also for the high level of expertise displayed on the Forums. I have learned a lot from many people there, I have received lots of help, and uploading my models is just a...

Nice, but this is a UK site for British railways. Just an observation, but there seems to be a lot more non BR stuff being posted here now. Excuse me? Are you the owner of this site? Do you get to decide what can be uploaded here or not? FYI, I have uploaded a number of non-British models here in t...

Gooische Stoomtram 7

Here's a preview of a new loco I hope to upload soon: http://www.snijderj.btinternet.co.uk/fret.jpg This is one of a series of 40 tank engines of the Hollandse IJzeren Spoorweg Maatschappij, one of the pre-nationalisation Railway Companies in The Netherlands. It was built by Borsig in 1887 and used ...

Calling off all search parties! Upon advice from someone I deleted the offending drivers, re-loaded a saved wheel and rebuild them. Everything now works perfectly OK :D In hindsight I could have done this straightaway and saved myself hours. The trick is to know when you're defeated, I guess... Anyw...

This seems to be an intermitttent bug. My way around it is to ignore it and use TGATools to convert the textures outside TSM. Works very well.

Checking the "other forum", I came across a reference to a file called newshape.bsf. Somebody claimed that this needs modification when using TSM 1.1, after which somebody else reported that his problem (similar to ours) was solved. Unfortunately I couldn't find any details on this newshape.bsf file...

Richard, Thanks, tonight I'll try renaming the driving wheels as you suggest. What I find odd is that the animation looks OK when trying it in TSM, but works very differently (or not, rather) after loading into MSTS. I wish I'd stayed with my tram loco's - those skirts are very effective in hiding t...

I'm not too sure what you mean by manually, could you explain a bit please? The way I understand it is like this: - select the part, eg. a wheelset - click the ANI button - click set rotation for frame 0 - move the slider to frame 8 and click again - move the slider to frame 1, rotate the wheels by ...

Thanks, Caldrail. I renamed the wheels to something else, and deleted the old rotation. I loaded an 8-frame rotation from file (actually 9, with the first and the last ones the same), created the MSTS file, but no luck: the wheels don't rotate at all now. I use TSM V1.1, I did set the animation to 9...

And another thing.... when I brake, the rods stop moving at approx. 30% apply, but the wheels keep on turning until the loco comes to a halt.

All very spooky and a bit worrying :(

coupling rod trouble

My wheels turn at half the rate of the coupling rods  I've set animation to 9 frames, used 16-sided cylinders as wheels, with elongated hubs onto which the rods are positioned. The rods are parented to Main, as are the wheels. I manually set the animation of the rods using an 8-sided disk as pe...

The van's ID is 2667. I classified it as 'passenger coach' 'mail van' (sounds about right 8) )

If you set the country in the Download Library header to 'Netherlands' you'll get to see the whole lot (and an electric loco modelled by someone else)

Thanks guys, for your kind words & encouragements! So far, RE has behaved itself, I zip up the route to a second HDD once a day. My first couple of tiles cover parts of Amsterdam, and I am getting a bit concerned about the number of objects I need to place. One tile is getting close to 600, and I am...
