Re: Scripting to detect the last wagon in a consist
Hmm. That's a bit cleaner for sure. You can tell you've been doing this longer than me

Re: Scripting to detect the last wagon in a consist
Kariban. Well that was tenuous :) So after going into full-on hack-and-slash mode, this is what I've come up with. It's not very efficient but I can't rely on engines sending ping messages down the train. Also it seems that you really can't turn geometry on or off in the Initialise() function - it j...

Re: Scripting to detect the last wagon in a consist
Well I'm having an epic fail right now. I've tried a couple of options and I can't get anything to work and I'm not sure why. Note : "TailLamp" is an object in my actual wagon model rather than a model attached using the blueprint. Option 1: function Initialise () Call("ActivateNode", "TailLamp", 0 ...

Scripting to detect the last wagon in a consist
Anyone know if it's possible for a wagon to detect if it's the tail end one in a consist? For example to turn on a tail lantern child model? I can build a lamp or lantern (geometry, not lights) into the wagon but I don't want it to be visible on any wagon apart from the one at the back. Sent from my...

Re: ChrisTrains dutch trains for TS2012
2nd colour scheme for the Gbs wagon is now complete. An old Frico Leeuwarden version. Mmmmm. Cheese, butter, powdered milk

Re: Best way to distribute 3rd party stuff? Package manager?
All I do with my installer is read the following key: HKLM\Software\RailSimulator.com\RailWorks It works for me on either 32 or 64bit. I did research the details of why this is the case and a quick google on how the wow64 node works might help you. It is (I think) something to help 32bit programs r...

Re: Best way to distribute 3rd party stuff? Package manager?
It is in two different places but the operating system should automatically handle the different locations for 64 and 32. This is what I found with the Freeware Packs. Not sure I'm with you there. If I key off [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RailSimulator.com\RailWorks] then on a 64bit machine are you...

Re: Best way to distribute 3rd party stuff? Package manager?
Wether you like it or not pirates will find a way around DRM (even DRM made by mega-corporations such as EA) and you shouldn't waste needless time and resources trying to counter it, but rather make your potential customers (inc. 'pirates' in category 1/2) want to support you as a developer and as ...

Re: Best way to distribute 3rd party stuff? Package manager?
I've been talking to JT about this so that's "in discussion" but for some of the other smaller items like wagons, it seems pointless doing payware through a large organisation. I just want it to be easy for the end user. Doing an installer relies on the user giving me the correct top-level folder fo...

Re: Best way to distribute 3rd party stuff? Package manager?
Hi, Yes, I understand the reasons behind that approach, but please give folks the choice of what else they install or don't install. Any installer that insists 'I'm Not Going Any Further Until You Install X, Y and Z First' may put folks off trying something that they would otherwise enjoy. Norm No ...

Re: Best way to distribute 3rd party stuff? Package manager?
Honestly I'd say it's more a matter of preference rather than one being better than the other. If you intend to use some form of DRM (like Just Trains has) on your products though you'd have to go the route of an installer. Though DRM is pointless, if people want to pirate your work DRM would only ...

Best way to distribute 3rd party stuff? Package manager?
So I'm starting to get my ducks in a row to begin distributing some of my new stuff for Railworks. Back in the MSTS days I used to make installers that would simply put all the files into the correct location. I can do the same thing for Railworks (assuming the user chooses the correct root folder d...

Re: ChrisTrains dutch trains for TS2012
Of course a decent loco needs something to pull. For starters, something simple. And old Gbs freight car. I still need to do the autonumbering and sort out the bump maps but it's mostly complete....
