Returning user is very impressed

I have not posted in (or even looked at) this forum for a long time, largely because thinking about a product that has not yet been released becomes frustrating after a while. When I posted a long time ago now, in late 2005, when KRS was first announced, I hoped that Kuju would, as it promised, list...

I rather hope that the track laying system will properly simulate the precise position of track joints, both visually, and (as I mentioned in a post long ago) audibly. Given some careful thought, this ought not be too difficult: first, decide whether jointed track or CWR is being used, then decide a...

Why the NLL? Is it mainly underground or something? No, it's not underground, but it's quite long, inner-suburban for its entire length, partly overhead AC, partly third-rail DC, shares part of its length with the District Line, and would for those reasons take a disproportionately huge time to mod...

Routes not to have

Impractical and/or pointless suggestions for routes:

(1) the North London Line;

(2) the Henley-on-Thames branch (present day);

(3) the Channel Tunnel;

(4) the Waterloo and City Line; and

(5) the Golden Arrow boat train.

Can anybody think of more?

I can't see why: they wouldn't have to use the feature if they didn't want.

I hope that AndiS will be considered for the committee: his contributions to these forums have been extremely illuminating, thorough, and well-considered.

Train rosters

One invaluable way of enhancing the UI of a railway simulator would be to have a roster of all trains currently in the simulation in tabular format, which a user can, by selecting one or other train therefrom, switch her or his perspective from one train to another. For example, suppose that the use...

That would be very unusual for a commercial game: they are usually released long before they are ready, or occasionally shortly afterwards, if the intention is to market the product for Christmas buyers.

Why the cow? :wink: :P :cry: Now comes the day I first get flamed here :cry: To be honest, my idea was that avatars are for those (like me) who cannot keep names far less acronyms. So uniqueness supports the purpose while small differences between photos somewhat reduce the utility of this inventio...

An alternative to fast-forwarding, of course, is to have a tea-making simulator as a subgame ;-)

A very intelligent idea: but one would hope that something described as a "railway simulator" would not be limited merely to driving trains, in which case, other situations would need a fast-forward function (if one can play as a passenger, for example, which would be very sensible, one might want t...
