Don't bank on it - it could easily be nothing more than "if train speed / curve radius > x, then crash".1975Supra wrote:MSTS already topples trains of the tracks on curves if thge speed is too great so even MSTS must have some concept of CofG and the physics of the loco, stock and track.

I am not sure what people mean by "automatically" here, but the programmers still need to make this "automatic" changing of sound happen, using some programming, which is precisely what Sabrina seems to be talking about. It is not clear how they will achieve the effect, but they need a "sound event"...

However, there is a ray of light into the dark "I am so happy vs. I am so disappointed" debate in that statement: What is the difference between a brand new simulator and an improved version of MSTS? Not that I want to start a debate about that here, but I think if everyone answers the questions fo...

I think this question is "how can you play a sound at a station?" This would be any sound seeing as nobody can determine what the name of the station is. This would have to be recorded by the individual and then linked to a config file of some sorts. Simily, destination boards would require an inpu...

As far as I can see, it doesn't make any sense to complain at software being produced which, when set to its highest possible settings, cannot comfortably be played on current hardware, but can be played just fine when the settings are turned down, as what one is effectively asking the software deve...

Re: Stealth Locos
That can already be done in MSTS. It would simply require the activity writer to put a reversing point in the path and send the train somewhere where it cannot be seen by the player when it dissappears. Yes, if one thinks of railway simulation software as performing the same function as a model rai...

Hi John The FOI Act DOES cover commercial products, but only, I think, once they're released. At this stage, the developer would simply claim it's "work in progress" which would most likely be exempt from disclosure. Cheers Ashley Aha! So, after it's released, we'll be able to force Kuju to tell us...

The truth is, that no sim has yet overcome the problems with developing proper signalling. That's not entirely true :-) Setting aside for a moment SimSig, which is a simulation just for signalling, and is very, very realistic indeed, there is Railway 3D, which is a general railway simulator (freewa...

Sounds like a brilliant set of ideas. It'd be good if something similar to what you said could be done. Although, it might be a trifle tricky for the user being both signalman and driver, but perhaps when a route gets a bit quiet (long stretches of mostly straight track) it could be worthwhile, whi...

I agree with bigblue, why dont they post more about the stuff that matters like how the signalling works and train features that may or may not apear in KRS rather than baffling us with science about the EMF produced by a motor etc etc, i went to college to do that! More info about gameplay would b...
