OK just a quickie I'm back, dodged the washing up and followed your instruction above, and navigated around the screen and eventually got a carpark somewhere, factory and lots of trees, saved the scenario named JJGas and got back to it again when I reopened TS Build.
So thanks, and keen to progress.

The tools are on flyouts on the left hand side. Rather then prodding about in the dark and getting nowhere, view some basic scenario creation tutorials on YouTube. That should get you started. On the 50-'s Riviera route it passes a gas works between Torquay station and Paignton station, the lines are in place with crossings, I would be happy to just place some wagons in that siding to start with to get the hang of things, eventually run some freight up from Kings...

Gptech. Thanks for info re not rushing, I did get some response. I requested an edit of 50's riviera starting at Paignton station, I did get something that was nothing like Paignton Station apart from the level crossing but nothing else made sense. So will persevere a little longer.

Struggling to find a link on how to start up at Build and then edit using that edit tool from beginning of set up. Any assistance appreciated.
