Re: DTG Woodhead BR Blue Era
There was still plenty of jointed track on the MHG lines 'back in the day' so drivers knew pretty much how fast they were going. Plus the fact that the chances of any serious speeding were fairly slim due to distances between the station stops. I seem to recall the only reasonably fast stretch with ...

Re: DTG Woodhead BR Blue Era
The Woodhead footage on that clip was originally released on Cinerails 'Archive Series Volume 1: The Woodhead Route' VHS tape, which is also now available on DVD if anybody is interested. Well worth buying ! Also with reference to the Youtube clip, note the genuine class 76 'Pneuphonic horn' sound a...

Re: DTG Woodhead BR Blue Era
Absolutely wonderful ! I'm guessing the interior of the 506 was modelled from the preserved class 306 unit which is as close to the 506 as you could get nowadays. I did notice the vertical wooden panelling up the seat sides which was slightly different on the 506s from memory, but honestly, without ...

Re: DTG Woodhead BR Blue Era
Having tried to achieve that on a couple of routes - the conclusion is that once a wagon is uncoupled from a loco, it becomes a "static" vehicle, and cannot move on its own, no matter how steep the gradient! The only way to do this is to have an "invisible" loco pulling the wagons to their final de...

Re: DTG Woodhead BR Blue Era
Talking of retarders, are there any routes that anyone knows of that have a 'hump yard' as such ? I'd have thought theres some fun to be had letting various wagons roll their way into oblivion..... Re - my above post, I had a brainstorm re the class 08 'spoon', it's the starting handle thats removab...

Re: DTG Woodhead BR Blue Era
Just for your info, the guard would normally travel in his guards van in the powered motor coach which was directly behind the drivers cab, no matter what direction the train was travelling in. I travelled on 506s regularly for a few years and a friend of a mate of mine was a guard at Guide Bridge b...

Re: There will be an APT-P DLC!!!
Ive just viewed some old poor quality VHS video footage of the train courtesy of an old colleague of mine, filmed at Shields Rd around 1985. This confirmed a very class 91 esq roar from the two central power cars, a nice quiet whirring MA set in the coach adjacent to the power cars, and literally on...

Re: There will be an APT-P DLC!!!
"Fallen stallion", huh? I remember seeing one on a curve near Carnforth, as the train I was on inched past. It had (ahem) 'fallen' off the rails, southbound from Glasgow. Could have been a great train but the powers-that-be made the engineers rush the job for political reasons. Couldn't happen nowa...

Re: WR Hydraulics
Hi all, rather new here so please be gentle with me lol ! Having moved over here from the world of BVE I am impressed with how this sim has developed in the last few years, so am starting to get into things nicely now. In reply to the post above, I have learnt my way around building scenarios my vie...
